Mayed Almheiri, a student at the University of the Arts Sharjah, has been named a finalist for the Dior Photography and Visual Arts Prize for Young Talents. The prize, launched in 2018 by the French luxury brand Dior, focuses on the intersection of fashion, photography, and contemporary visual culture. This year’s theme, 'Face to Face,' prompted entries exploring identity, intimacy, and human connection through diverse artistic expressions. Almheiri's submission, titled 'Somatic Anxiety & Not Myself,' features a triptych of self-portraits incorporating small metal tubes, reflecting themes of anxiety and alienation. His work builds on a series begun in 2025 and aligns with his previous exhibitions at Sikka 2026 and participation in World Art Dubai. The prize highlights emerging talent from global institutions, with this year’s jury including notable figures in photography and fashion.
