The Greek optical microsatellite Hyperion GR-1 is in orbit
The Greek optical microsatellite 'Hyperion GR-1' has successfully been launched into orbit, marking a significant step in Greece's space capabilities. The satellite, developed by the Greek company Open Cosmos Aegean, is part of the National Microsatellite Program and offers advanced imaging capabilities with high resolution up to 90 cm. It will support applications in environmental monitoring, disaster management, security, and public administration. Data collected by Hyperion GR-1 will be integrated into the Governmental Geospatial Observation Hub, enhancing operational decision-making. The launch took place from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida using a SpaceX rocket, and another satellite, Posedònia, was also deployed during this mission. This achievement brings Greece's total number of satellites in orbit to 18.
