Russia is attacking Kiev again with ballistic missiles.

Ukraine's capital Kiev was struck again with ballistic missiles overnight, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who reported six injured individuals in the city and surrounding areas. Fires broke out in two districts, prompting local authorities to urge residents to remain in shelters. The attacks occurred amid ongoing tensions along the eastern front, with reports of casualties and damage extending beyond the capital. The assault took place during the night, with Russian forces launching multiple ballistic missile strikes against several regions of Ukraine, including the capital. According to Zelenskyy, three people were killed in other parts of the country. In the southern industrial city of Kryvyi Rih, two fatalities and 14 injuries were recorded following a missile attack. Another death was reported in Sumy in northeastern Ukraine, while injuries were also confirmed in Odessa and Dnipro. The Ukrainian Air Force stated that attacks included missiles, glide bombs, and drones targeting cities such as Kremenchuk. Ukraine has been facing challenges in its defense capabilities due to a shortage of anti-missile ammunition. This has allowed Russia to intensify its missile attacks on Kiev and other urban centers. The United States' Patriot systems, considered the most effective defense against high-speed ballistic missiles, have been deployed by Ukrainian forces. However, they lack sufficient intercepting missiles to operate them effectively. Russia also reported casualties from the attacks. Governor of Moscow region Andrei Vorobyov described the incident as one of the largest attacks on the region in recent times, with one person killed after a drone struck a private property in Podolsk. Three people were injured in the same area. A warehouse belonging to the Russian online retailer Wildberries was hit in Podolsk, though employees were evacuated safely. Additional damage was reported at warehouses in Domodedovo, near one of Moscow’s main airports. According to the Ukrainian news site Kyiv Independent, the attacks targeted both industrial facilities and a Wildberries warehouse in Russia. Similar strikes on Wildberries locations had previously been reported in other Russian regions. Reports also indicated attacks in the Rostov region, bordering occupied territories in eastern Ukraine, resulting in three deaths and one injury. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed that Ukrainian forces launched 822 drones nationwide. Approximately 600 of these were directed toward the Moscow region, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, who noted that 201 of the drones were shot down. Ukrainian military operations have increasingly relied on drones for retaliatory strikes against Russian territory since the conflict began over four years ago.
