Cyberabad to develop 10 free lefts and five U-turns to ease traffic congestion

A massive infrastructure project worth approximately Rs 900 crore is set to transform transportation in Greater Noida West, according to recent reports. The project involves the construction of a double-decker flyover designed to link the 130-metre road in the area with key destinations such as Shahberi, Crossings Republik and National Highway 9. This development aims to significantly reduce travel time and alleviate traffic bottlenecks in the region. The initiative follows a broader push to modernise urban mobility in India, with local authorities focusing on improving connectivity and reducing congestion. In parallel, efforts are underway in Hyderabad's Cyberabad district to address traffic challenges through innovative measures. The Cyberabad Traffic Police have announced plans to introduce 10 free left turns and five dedicated U-turns at strategic junctions. These changes are part of a phased approach to enhance traffic flow, decrease congestion and promote safer driving practices. During an inspection at Wipro Junction, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sunpreet Singh reviewed the progress of the free left and U-turn development work. He emphasized the importance of expediting the projects while ensuring minimal disruption to daily commuters. The selected locations for these improvements were determined based on comprehensive traffic studies aimed at optimising vehicle movement and reducing delays at critical intersections. The proposed free lefts will be implemented at several high-traffic areas including Cyber Towers in Madhapur, Nanakramguda Rotary-1 in Raidurgam, Wipro Junction near IIIT in Gachibowli, and others across different parts of the commissionerate. Dedicated U-turns are being planned at locations such as TG-Transco in Raidurgam and Kamalesh Medical Hall under the Balanagar flyover. These adjustments aim to streamline traffic patterns and make navigation more efficient for drivers. In addition to physical infrastructure upgrades, the Cyberabad Traffic Police have launched a campaign encouraging motorists to adhere strictly to lane discipline. Drivers are advised to take only a left turn after entering a free left lane and to utilise designated U-turn lanes exclusively. Compliance with these guidelines is expected to lower the risk of accidents and contribute to smoother traffic operations throughout the area. Sunpreet Singh also visited the Gachibowli Traffic Police Station, where he assessed the station's operational readiness and reiterated the need for prompt responses to traffic incidents. His directives underscored the commitment to maintaining effective field supervision and fostering a responsive, community-oriented policing strategy. As both projects move forward, they represent significant steps toward enhancing urban mobility in two distinct regions of India. While the Greater Noida West flyover focuses on large-scale infrastructure, the Cyberabad initiatives highlight the role of tactical traffic management in addressing immediate congestion issues. Both developments reflect a growing emphasis on integrating technology and policy to create more sustainable and efficient transportation systems.
