The investment that made Federer a billionaire overnight took him $52 million:

Roger Federer is no longer a billionaire, according to the latest estimate from Forbes. The Swiss tennis legend’s wealth has declined significantly following a sharp drop in shares of On Holding, the sporting equipment manufacturer in which he holds a substantial stake. Forbes currently estimates his net worth at around 827 million euros. Shares of On Holding fell as much as 22 percent on Tuesday, marking their largest daily decline since the company went public. Forbes recorded a drop of approximately 19 percent at the time, leading to a reduction in Federer's net worth by at least 45 million euros within a single day. The results disappointed the market The reason for the share sell-off was On Holding’s quarterly results. The company generated around 907 million euros in revenue during the second quarter, representing a 13.5 percent increase compared to the same period last year. However, this figure fell short of the roughly 937 million euros that the market had anticipated. Particularly concerning was the slower growth in the American market, which accounts for more than half of On Holding’s total revenue. Sales in the US rose by 13 percent when converted to a comparable currency basis, down from a 17 percent increase in the previous quarter. This slowdown on key markets was one of the main reasons behind investors' negative reaction. Despite these challenges, the company’s operations are not in crisis. On Holding earned around 112 million euros in net profit for the quarter, compared to a loss in the same period the previous year. The company also raised expectations for its gross profit margin for the entire year. Federer became a billionaire thanks to On Holding Federer joined On Holding as a co-owner in 2019, and Forbes estimates that he currently owns about 2.5 percent of the company. It was precisely the strong rise in the value of this stake that helped Federer enter the billionaire club in 2025. At that time, his estimated net worth was around 955 million euros, slightly over a billion dollars. Much of Federer’s wealth did not come from tournament prizes but from long-term sponsorship deals and business investments. Throughout his career, he won 20 Grand Slam titles and earned around 114 million euros from tournament prize money. However, contracts with companies such as Uniqlo, Rolex, and Mercedes-Benz, along with his investment in On Holding, contributed far more to his fortune. The drop in On Holding’s stock price has thus, at least according to the current Forbes valuation, removed him from the billionaire club. Nevertheless, Federer remains very close to the threshold, and the value of his assets could change again alongside the company’s stock price.

Roger Federer is no longer a billionaire
