Reignitions in the Vouzela fire give the firefighters no respite
A fire that started in Vouzela on Thursday morning continues to pose challenges for firefighters due to repeated rekindling of flames across a large area. Although the fire is now considered under control, the vast burned perimeter has led to numerous flare-ups, requiring constant vigilance. The incident spread to several neighboring municipalities, including Oliveira de Frades, Tondela, and Águeda, and resulted in significant damage, including the complete destruction of a wooden components factory in Vouzela. There were two seriously injured individuals, one who suffered severe burns while trying to extinguish the fire and another who sustained a serious head injury after falling from a water-carrying vehicle. Three people with minor injuries were also reported, including two volunteer firefighters affected by smoke and a civilian with burns.
