Open competition for student residences in Zagreb, applications fully digital

The Students' Center (SC) in Zagreb has launched a competition for allocating dormitory spots for the academic year 2026/2027, which will be fully digital this year. The competition is open to students in regular status who qualify for subsidized housing, based on regulations set by the Ministry of Science, Education, and Youth. Applications will be submitted through the SC’s online platform, with some documents needing manual upload. Due to renovations at several dormitories, 906 subsidies for private accommodation will be provided at €152 per month. Around 6,097 students will qualify for dormitory housing, while the first 906 below the score threshold will receive the subsidy. Students receiving the subsidy cannot simultaneously reside in a dormitory, and if they move into a dorm, the subsidy reverts to the next student on the waiting list. A temporary ranking list will be published on August 17, with appeals possible until September 9. Students can reserve their spot immediately after results are announced, with relocation allowed until September 21. Those who don’t secure a spot or relocate will be considered to have forfeited it. Additionally, a separate competition for subsid

Open competition for student housing in Zagreb: two important innovations, new subsidy introduced

The Zagreb Student Center has announced a new competition for allocating rooms in student dormitories, starting tomorrow and ending on July 24th. The temporary ranking list will be published on August 17th, with final results expected by September 9th. This year’s application process is fully digital, requiring students to submit all necessary information through an online portal. Due to renovations in several dormitory pavilions, the number of available rooms has decreased significantly. As a result, those who cannot secure a spot in the dorms will now officially receive financial support for private accommodation, amounting to 152 euros—more than double the usual subsidy of 60 euros. Winners of the competition will have the option to reserve their dormitory room immediately after results are posted, with move-in dates set for September 21st.
