He let the dogs out on the police, and then he made even more chaos: 'I'll blow you up'

A 35-year-old man caused chaos in the village of Vukovina, near Velika Gorica, after initially releasing two dogs onto police officers during a traffic stop, according to Zagreb police. The incident occurred around 10 pm on Wednesday, when two police officers stopped the man’s vehicle for inspection. The suspect immediately insulted and verbally abused the officers, ignoring their warnings to calm down. He then released the two dogs from his car, which rushed toward the officers. In response, the officers retreated into their patrol vehicle, while the suspect drove away from the scene. Shortly afterward, four more officers from Velika Gorica joined the initial two, and together they went to the suspect's residence in Turopolje. There, they asked him to step outside, where he was surrounded by four dogs. At this point, the suspect threatened to kill himself with a sharp object and verbally threatened the officers with an explosive device. Despite these threats, the officers managed to arrest him using force, ensuring both his safety and theirs. A breath test revealed that the suspect had 1.56 percent alcohol in his blood, indicating intoxication. The suspect, who was already known to the police, was taken to a medical facility for treatment. After being released, he underwent a criminal investigation due to suspected offenses against public order and safety. Specifically, he was accused of assault on two Zagreb police officers and making threats against them, as well as four officers from Velika Gorica. The police stated that the suspect was charged under Article 17 of the Law on Offenses Against Public Order and Peace, involving insults and abuse of police personnel. He was brought before a court, where he was found guilty and sentenced to 16 days in prison, with conditional release after one year. Additionally, a formal complaint was filed with the state prosecutor over potential criminal offenses related to the use of force against a public official and threats.
