Prince Harry lost to the Daily Mail
Prince Harry, along with other high-profile individuals such as singer Elton John, actress Liz Hurley, activist Doreen Lawrence, and politician Simon Hughes, sued Associated Newspapers (ANL), publisher of the Daily Mail, for alleged violations of privacy. In a 436-page ruling, the court found no evidence supporting claims of unlawful information gathering by ANL employees, freelancers, or private detectives. The case involved allegations of phone tapping and fraud to obtain sensitive information. Prince Harry argued that 14 specific articles published between 1993 and 2018 were based on illegal data collection. ANL’s representatives described the ruling as a 'decisive victory' for the Daily Mail and the freedom of the press. The trial lasted over ten weeks, during which Prince Harry gave an emotional testimony about the impact of the media on his wife, Duchess Meghan. The prince has not yet commented on the ruling.
