Presentation of the Photography Exhibition ASLEEP / WOKE / AWAKE

In a unique celebration of family legacy and artistic expression, the centenary of poet Lojze Krakar's birth has been marked by a dual tribute involving both his poetry and the photography of his grandson, Delov photoreporter Voranc Vogel. This year, as Slovenia commemorates the 100th anniversary of Krakar’s birth and also marks three decades of Voranc Vogel’s photographic journey, a special collaboration has emerged between literature and visual art. The culmination of this effort is the publication of a book titled Od tebe dalje štejem svoje dni, which features 100 poems by Krakar alongside 100 photographs taken by Voranc Vogel. The project was launched in February and is accompanied by an exhibition running until July 23rd at the Kresija Gallery.

The book serves as a bridge between two generations, connecting the poetic voice of Krakar with the visual storytelling of his grandson. Each poem is paired with a photograph, creating a dialogue between word and image. The first photograph taken by Voranc Vogel was of his grandfather’s garden covered in snow—a melancholic scene that captures the essence of loss and memory. This series of black-and-white photographs, created over the past five years near Lake Vogršček, explores the ever-changing landscape of the area. The images capture subtle shifts in water levels and natural formations, illustrating the processes of transformation, decay, and rebirth in the environment.

Perko’s work goes beyond mere documentation; it invites viewers to reflect on the relationship between humans, nature, and time. His photographs challenge the observer to consider how landscapes evolve and how human presence interacts with these changes. On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at 6 PM, the public had the opportunity to participate in a guided tour of the exhibition led by the artist himself. During this session, Perko shared insights into the conceptual framework behind the series and discussed the creative process that shaped the final images.

This guided tour offered attendees a deeper understanding of the artist’s vision and the inspiration drawn from the dynamic environment around Lake Vogršček.
