Dean Golubić, a 43-year-old former co-owner of a well-known security company and ex-candidate for several conservative parties, was recently sentenced by the Zagreb County Court to four years and four months in prison for sexually assaulting a woman and allowing her to consume drugs. The incident occurred in April 2022 at a hotel apartment in Zagreb’s Sheraton Hotel. According to the victim, who was in her thirties, Golubić threatened her with a knife, forced her to inhale cocaine, poured wine into her mouth, struck her, spat on her, and sexually assaulted her over the course of approximately a day and a half. She managed to escape during the night with a rope tied around her legs and arms after a friend arrived at the hotel. Golubić has denied the charges, claiming the encounter was consensual, and questioned the victim’s injuries. During the trial, footage of their sexual relationship, recorded without the victim’s knowledge, was presented as evidence. The court also mandated compulsory treatment for alcohol and drug addiction lasting up to three years and ordered him to pay over 7,800 euros in court costs. He has since filed a motion challenging the fairness of the trial.
