Plenković gathers ministers, on the table is a new rule for farmers

The Croatian government, led by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, has announced plans to submit a new law to the parliament regarding the exploration and exploitation of energy georesources. This law aims to comprehensively regulate the management of all energy georesources, with a notable provision separating geothermal water into a distinct category. The proposal introduces additional flexibility in granting permits for hydrocarbon exploration and strengthens the role of the Hydrocarbons Agency. A significant change involves allowing farmers registered in the Farmer Register to apply for geothermal water exploration on their land without undergoing the competitive bidding process required for oil companies. Additionally, the government will adopt several decisions related to funding for waste transportation costs in specific regions, adjustments to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, contributions from legal entities owned by Croatia to the state budget for 2026, and support for Ukraine.
