Personalised exercise plans on Healthier SG for 270,000 users through AI

Singapore has launched a six-month trial of an AI-powered tool designed to generate personalized exercise plans for participants in the Healthier SG program. The tool is available to approximately 270,000 individuals aged 40–64 who are generally healthy and have already created their Healthier SG Health Plan with a registered doctor. Users can access the beta version via the HealthHub app or website. The AI considers factors like demographics, preferences, and lifestyle choices to create tailored exercise routines, including video guides and options for customization such as workout type, location, and timing. Safety features prompt users to report any health concerns before recommending exercises. Developed by Singapore's Ministry of Health, the Health Promotion Board, and healthcare professionals, the tool draws on existing resources from the HPB’s MOVE IT platform. As of May 2026, over 1.4 million residents had enrolled in Healthier SG, with most completing their initial health plans.

Singapore has launched a six-month trial of an artificial intelligence-driven tool designed to provide personalized exercise plans to approximately 270,000 Healthier SG enrollees. The initiative, which began on July 27, is targeting adults aged between 40 and 64 who are generally healthy and do not suffer from chronic conditions such as diabetes or hypertension. These individuals must have already created a Healthier SG Health Plan with their registered doctor to qualify for the service. The AI tool, known as Health Plan AI, is accessible via the HealthHub mobile app and the HealthHub website. It leverages generative AI technology to customize exercise regimens tailored to each user's health profile, demographic data, personal preferences, and lifestyle choices. Users receive a seven-day exercise guide aimed at helping them achieve their health plan objectives. This tool was developed collaboratively by the Ministry of Health’s healthtech agency Synapxe, the Health Promotion Board (HPB), and a team of healthcare professionals. Eligible users can obtain AI-generated exercise plans that match the intensity recommended within their health plan. The system offers detailed guidance on the muscles targeted during each exercise, along with instructional videos featuring step-by-step demonstrations. Customization options allow users to select between group or individual workouts, indoor or outdoor settings, and preferred times for exercising. Preferences regarding specific types of exercise can also be specified. The recommendations are drawn from the extensive content available on the HPB’s MOVE IT website, which includes physical activity programs, fitness resources, and community initiatives organized by ActiveSG and the People’s Association. Safety is a central component of the AI tool, which prompts users to disclose any current symptoms such as chest discomfort, dizziness, fainting, or shortness of breath. If these symptoms are reported, the system advises consulting a physician before engaging in physical activity. The AI tool is equipped with safeguards to ensure that exercise recommendations do not exceed the user’s capacity. As of May 2026, over 1.4 million Singapore residents, representing 59 percent of the eligible population, have enrolled in the Healthier SG program through more than 1,100 general practitioner (GP) clinics and polyclinics. Of these enrollees, 83 percent, approximately 1.16 million, have completed their initial health plan. This means the AI tool is currently available to around a quarter of those with a health plan, with many of the remaining likely having at least one chronic condition. A significant portion of the excluded population may become eligible for the AI tool if the trial proves successful. In May, The Straits Times reported that the Ministry of Health and its affiliated bodies, including Synapxe, had been developing an AI-powered tool to offer personalized dietary and exercise advice to Healthier SG participants. Synapxe confirmed that Health Plan AI is an evolution of the earlier digital assistant tool called HealthGuide@Home. Currently, the AI tool does not generate personalized dietary plans, although this functionality is planned for the future. The AI feature will remain active until January 27, 2027, after which the Ministry of Health will evaluate the results to decide whether to implement the tool permanently. Key metrics being monitored include usage rates, user feedback, and adherence to safety protocols. Chua emphasized the importance of encouraging users to share the HealthHub app with family and friends to expand the reach of the initiative.
