Katoliška Cerkev na Hrvaškem se letos veseli 41 novomašnikov, ki so bili v zadnjih tednih posvečeni v različnih škofijah in redovnih skupnostih po državi. To število, ki ga je zbral hrvaški Glas Koncila, predstavlja spodbuden znak za lokalno cerkvijo, kljub splošnemu upadanju duhovnih poklicev v Evropi. Število novomašnikov je v primerjavi z prejšnjimi leti nižje, a njihova prisotnost v cerkvi se še vedno smatra pomembnim znamenjem upanja za prihodnost Cerkve.
Prišlo je do največjega posvečenja v Zagrebu, kjer je nadškof Dražen Kutleša posvetil deset novih duhovnikov. Nadškof je poudaril, da je duhovništvo pripadnost Kristusu, ne poklic ali funkcija. Posvečenje je bilo priložnost, da so novomašniki spodbudeni, naj ostanejo možje molitve, evharistije in Božje besede ter naj ljudi ne nagovarjajo le z besedami, ampak predvsem s svojim življenjem. Nadškof je tudi poudaril, da današnji svet potrebuje pristne priče evangelija, ki bodo ljudem blizu v njihovih stiskah in iskanjih.
Med letošnjimi posvečenji so bila tudi posvečenja v Požegi, Zadru, Splitu, Reki, Džakovu, Dubrovniku in drugih hrvaških škofijah ter v redovnih skupnostih. Čeprav je število novomašnikov precej nižje kot pred desetletji, hrvaški cerkveni mediji poudarjajo, da ostajajo duhovni poklici pomembno znamenje upanja za prihodnost Cerkve.
V Sloveniji je praznik svetih apostolov Petra in Pavla po tradiciji dan posvečevanja diakonov v novomašnike. Letos jih je pet. V mariborski stolnici je nadškof Alojzij Cvikl roke položil na Timoteja Fijavža Vivoda. Danes dopoldne je bilo duhovniško posvečenje v ljubljanski stolnici, kjer so bili posvečeni Luka Anžič, Gregor Anton Capuder in jezuit p. Janez Gorenc. Popoldne pa se bodo veselili v Novem mestu, kjer bo posvečen kapucin br. Dominik Papež.
Obred posvečenja duhovnika vedno poteka znotraj slovesne svete maše in se začne po evangeliju. Po predstavitvi kandidatov, jih pokličejo po imenu, vsak odgovori: "Tukaj sem." Nato škof vpraša odgovornega: "Ali veš, da so vredni?" To pomeni, da Cerkev potrdi njihovo pripravljenost. Škof nato razglasi, da jih izbere za duhovnike. V homiliji, ki sledi evangeliju, škof razloži pomen duhovniške službe. Ljubljanski nadškof Stanislav Zore se je tukaj navezal na pisatelja Pisma Hebrejcem, da je "vsak veliki duhovnik vzet izmed ljudi in postavljen za ljudi v tem, kar se nanaša na Boga, da prinaša daritve in žrtve" (Heb 5,1).
Nadškof je poudaril, da so duhovniki vzeti izmed ljudi, ne iz posebne skupine. V Stari zavezi je bilo duhovništvo izročeno Levijevemu rodu in se je prenašalo po krvi. Vi pa stojite pred nami kot tisti, ki ste vzeti izmed ljudi. V sebi nosite zgodovino svojih družin in rodbin z njihovimi svetlimi zgledi in z njihovimi sencami. Ta zavest vas bo obvarovala, da nikoli ne boste popuščali skušnjavi večvrednosti, vzvišenosti, izjemnosti. Del tega Božjega ljudstva ste, postavljeni za ljudi v tem, kar se nanaša na Boga.
Nadškof je tudi nagovoril novomašnike, da niso privilegirana skupnost, saj so vzeti izmed ljudi. "V sebi nosite zgodovino svojih družin, svojih rodbin, z njihovimi svetlimi platmi in njihovimi sencami. Ta zavest, iskreno sprejeta, vas bo obvarovala, da ne boste nikoli popuščali skušnjavi večvrednosti, vzvišenosti, izjemnosti in pomembnosti. Del tega Božjega ljudstva ste, postavljeni za ljudi." To moramo imeti pred očmi tudi mi, ko gledamo duhovnike, je nadaljeval nadškof: "Duhovniki izhajamo izmed vas, zato nas ne sodite strožje kot sodite sebe."
Ob tem jih je opozoril, da se jim bo dogajalo kakor vsem ljudem. Deležni bodo besed, ki bodo bolele. Naleteli bodo na ljudi, ki bodo opozarjali na njihove pomanjkljivosti in napake. "Naj vas te besede ne zamajejo v vaši pripravljenosti na služenje. Takrat naj v vas na vso moč zadonijo Jezusove besede, povedane učencem pri zadnji večerji: 'Niste vi mene izvolili, ampak sem jaz vas izvolil in vas postavil, da greste in obrodite sad' (Jn 15,16)."
Nadškof Alojzij Cvikl je zbranim preprosto pokazal, da je duhovništvo dar poklicanosti od Boga in to za vse življenje v službi božjemu ljudstvu. In kakšne sposobnosti so za to potrebne? "Po vstajenju, se Jezus prikaže učencem pri Tiberijskem jezeru. Potem, ko jih je na obali po naporni noči, ko so ujeli šele na Jezusovo besedo, pričakal z žerjavico, na kateri je bila riba in kruh. Potem, jih je povabil jest, je na koncu te ga obeda postavil vprašanje Simonu Petru: 'Simon, Janezov sin, ali me ljubiš bolj, kot tile?' Tokrat je bil Petrov odgovor ponižen. To takoj pade v oči. Vidi se, da se Peter ne naslanja več nase. Žalostna izkušnja, ko je Jezus zatajil, ga je naučila, da ne more računati na svojo trdnost."
