Over 600 drones in World Cup zones have been seized by US authorities

The U.S. authorities have seized over 600 drones near World Cup stadiums and fan zones since the start of the tournament on June 11, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported that drones were confiscated in restricted airspace areas across all 11 host cities in the United States. In Miami alone, 130 drones were seized, while more than 70 were taken in Dallas during five matches. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has banned drone flights above matches and related fan gatherings nationwide. Drone operators who enter restricted airspace without authorization could face fines up to $100,000, criminal charges, and confiscation of their drones. Special FBI teams have been deployed around World Cup venues to detect and neutralize unauthorized drones. In 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order to strengthen U.S. defenses against threatening drones, and the Department of Homeland Security installed new drone defense systems along the U.S.-Mexico border in Texas. There have been numerous incidents involving drones at major sports events in the U.S. in recent years, including a man who pleaded guilt
