Discovered how the contamination got into the Grid?

During a fire at the Nova-chem paint and lacquer factory in Karlovac, firefighters discovered that water used to extinguish the blaze and other contaminants from the fire site were directly discharged into the Mrežnica River through an improperly sealed drain, rather than being directed into the sewage system. The spill was temporarily sealed off by firefighters using sandbags and compost to create a barrier. According to Hrvatske vode, surface contamination has been cleaned up, and there was no fish mortality reported. The acting mayor’s office and the city emergency services have convened a meeting to investigate the incident and determine next steps. Water samples from the affected section of the Mrežnica River have been taken and will undergo detailed analysis over the next seven days. Preliminary reports suggest the leak may have originated from an old window that was poorly sealed, potentially allowing rainwater runoff. Air quality tests conducted by experts from Rijeka confirmed no risk to residents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Discovered how the contamination got into the Grid, a dam was built: Inspection combs the terrain

During a fire at the Nova-chem paint and varnish factory in Karlovac, contaminated water used for firefighting was discovered flowing directly into the Mrežnica River through an unknown drainage system, rather than into the sewage system. Firefighters attempted to contain the pollution by creating a barrier using sand and compost bags. According to Croatian Water authorities, surface contamination has been addressed, and there were no fish kills. The deputy mayor of Karlovac and head of the Civil Protection Headquarters, Ivana Fočić, stated that a sample of the river water has been taken for analysis, with results expected in approximately seven days. Preliminary investigations suggest the drainage might be an old, improperly sealed outlet. Air quality tests showed no danger to residents, and experts confirmed all parameters were within legal limits. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Bias read (Center): The article provides a balanced account of the environmental incident, including actions taken by local authorities, steps being undertaken for analysis, and statements from officials. There is no evident ideological framing or biased language. The focus is on factual reporting of the event and the

The air in Karlovac is good, the pollution has not reached the Koran

Bias read (Center): The article presents factual information about a fire incident and its environmental impact without overt ideological slant. While the issue of pollution and environmental safety is politically relevant, the reporting remains objective, citing official sources such as the city administration and Hrv

The fire in Karlovac exposed an illegal discharge: the polluted river Mrežnica

A large fire at the business zone Mala Švarča in Karlovac destroyed two factories, Nova Chem and Gavranović. Firefighters discovered illegal drainage leading contaminated water from the fire site directly into the Mrežnica River, which then flows into the Korana. The firefighters attempted to prevent the firefighting water from entering the river but found the river heavily polluted. They sealed off the illegal discharge and used temporary barriers made from compost bags and floating dams. Authorities were alerted, and residents were warned against swimming in the Mrežnica. Water samples were taken for analysis. Initial tests showed minimal air pollution, though the smell and smoke caused concern. The fire caused significant damage, estimated at several million euros. Police are now investigating the cause of the fire with forensic experts.

Bias read (Center): The article presents a factual report on an environmental incident without overt ideological framing. While the issue of illegal discharges and environmental contamination is politically sensitive, the reporting remains neutral, focusing on the event itself rather than taking a clear partisan stance

A major fire has ravaged the Karlovac factory, the damage is 100%:

Bias read (Center): The article presents information from an official source (the mayor) regarding a fire incident and its aftermath. While the situation involves local governance and public safety, the tone remains neutral, focusing on factual updates and administrative actions rather than taking a clear ideological立场
