A new Chinese smartwatch detects your physical fitness, and one measures your blood pressure

Huawei has unveiled its latest smartwatch series, the Watch GT 7 and Watch 6, along with a new blood pressure monitoring device, the Watch D3, during a presentation in Germany. The devices will soon be available in Croatia, including the Watch GT 7 series, the Watch 6, and the Freebuds Neo earbuds. These new gadgets offer advanced health tracking features beyond simple step counting, aligning with modern wellness trends. The new smartwatches feature enhanced motion detection capabilities, allowing for more accurate tracking of acceleration, deceleration, and directional changes during physical activity. Among the highlights is the Watch D3, which can continuously monitor blood pressure throughout the day and night using ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM). This capability provides users with real-time insights into their cardiovascular health, making these devices particularly appealing to individuals interested in proactive health management. The Watch GT 7 series introduces several improvements in design, sports functionality, health tracking, and battery life. It includes a direction change detection system based on data from the wristband, enhancing accuracy during dynamic activities such as skiing and cycling. The watches come in two sizes, 46mm and 41mm, with eight color options. The flagship model, the Watch GT 7 Pro, features a ceramic case and a titanium frame, offering both durability and style. Both models include the new EasyCross band, designed for comfort and versatility during workouts. For winter sports enthusiasts, the Watch GT 7 offers specialized features tailored to skiing and snowboarding. The device automatically identifies active sessions and tracks training time by analyzing body position and altitude changes. This allows for continuous performance monitoring even in areas with limited GPS coverage. During skiing or snowboarding, the watch records distance, speed, and total vertical drop, helping users assess their progress. An algorithm distinguishes between active descents and periods of rest or movement on ski slopes or trails, providing detailed feedback for improvement. Users can access additional tools via the Huawei Health app, compatible with both Android and iOS devices. The app enables downloading maps for over 3,000 ski resorts worldwide, which sync directly with the watch. These maps display trail difficulty levels, aiding beginners in route selection while allowing experienced users to analyze past routes and performance metrics. The ‘Discover Turns’ function uses turn radius to identify and count short, medium, and long turns, while the G-force detection calculates and displays centripetal force during sharp turns, offering valuable data for technique refinement. Group activities benefit from the ‘Team-Up’ feature, which allows real-time location tracking of group members and simultaneous performance data sharing. For cyclists, the Watch GT 7 includes functions such as climb planning and climb broadcasting. ‘Climb Planning’ generates elevation profiles before rides, while ‘Climb Broadcasting’ displays incline angles and remaining distance in real time during climbs. Additionally, alerts for sharp turns enhance safety and awareness during outdoor exercise.
