Nissan has officially launched its new era in Chile with the introduction of the refreshed third-generation Versa sedan. The Japanese automaker, which had previously ceased operations in the country, is now operating under the umbrella of Astara, a company that also represents Nissan in Peru. This shift marks a significant change in Nissan’s presence in Chile, beginning on June 1st. The new chapter starts with the debut of the updated Versa, a compact sedan that has enjoyed considerable success since its launch in 2012. Hugo Castro, general manager of Nissan Chile, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating that the collaboration with Astara complements the strengths of both companies. He highlighted their shared vision for the future and expressed confidence in the new model, which he described as an icon in the national market having sold over 50,000 units throughout its history. The renewed Versa is set to offer customers a more refined experience through enhanced design, improved build quality, and upgraded powertrain components. The current generation of the Versa, produced at Nissan's plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico, was introduced to the market in 2020 and has undergone its second major update, following a previous one in 2023. The latest iteration features notable exterior changes, including a redesigned front grille that is slimmer than before, along with a new front bumper featuring lower air intakes that give the vehicle a sportier appearance. The headlights have been sharpened and arranged in a dual-level configuration, aligning with the design language of Nissan’s upcoming Kait SUV, which is soon to be unveiled in Chile. On the sides, subtle yet impactful modifications enhance the car’s dynamic silhouette. These include redesigned mirrors and wheels, depending on the trim level, and a more stylish rearview mirror cover. At the rear, the tail lamps have been completely redesigned with all-LED lighting connected by a dark band resembling a piano black finish. The model name is prominently displayed on this strip. The trunk area has also been redesigned, with a new rear bumper incorporating black plastic applications and a revised license plate holder at the bottom. Inside the cabin, improvements focus on perceived quality and subtle enhancements that elevate the driving experience. Depending on the trim level, the center console offers either a 9-inch or 10.3-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The dashboard combines analog and digital displays to provide drivers with essential information. Front seats feature improved support and greater comfort, while the interior has received upgrades in sound insulation for a quieter ride. Safety features have also been bolstered. The new Versa comes standard with six airbags, along with anti-lock braking system (ABS) equipped with electronic brake force distribution (EBD), traction control, dynamic vehicle control (VDC), and hill start assist. It also includes a button-start ignition and a rear parking sensor. Higher trims add a 360-degree rear camera, keyless entry with hands-free access, and top-tier models come with an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) package that includes predictive forward collision warning (PFCW), emergency automatic braking with pedestrian detection (FEB), reverse cross traffic alert (RCTA), lane departure warning and intervention (LDW + LDP), blind spot monitoring with intervention (BSW + BSI), and driver attention alerting. Despite these updates, the Versa retains its familiar platform, resulting in minimal changes to its dimensions: 4,500 millimeters in length, 1,740 millimeters in width, 1,470 millimeters in height, and a wheelbase of 2,620 millimeters. Structural reinforcements, additional components, and increased thickness in certain areas contribute to enhanced rigidity and durability.
