A 50-year-old Nigerian woman has given birth to quadruplets, two boys and two girls, just three weeks before her 50th birthday, following a marriage at the age of 48. Olushola Olonade shared her story during a church service at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Solid Rock Parish in Lagos on Sunday. Olonade married on December 12, 2023, at the age of 48, after what she called a long wait for a husband. After her wedding, she expressed a desire to avoid further delays in starting a family. Her prayers seemed to be answered when medical scans revealed an unexpected progression in the number of fetuses she carried. Initially, doctors believed she was expecting twins. However, subsequent scans indicated the presence of three fetuses, followed by a final confirmation of four. "I used to be Olushola Adeniji for 48 years," Olonade said during the service. "I got married on December 12, 2023, after a long wait." She emphasized her resolve not to face another period of waiting, stating, "I do not want to wait for children." The initial ultrasound results surprised both Olonade and her husband. When the first scan showed twins, she told her husband that even if there was only one child, they would still call her "Mummy Shola." A follow-up scan with a different doctor revealed three fetuses, prompting another visit for a more detailed examination. During this third scan, the doctor noted the possibility of four fetuses, confirming the quadruplet pregnancy. Olonade gave birth to the four children on March 6, 2026, just three weeks before her 50th birthday on March 31. This timing was particularly meaningful for her, as she highlighted the significance of reaching this milestone while welcoming her children into the world.
