Negotiations between the United States and Iran regarding the implementation of a bilateral memorandum of understanding will resume after the funeral of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who died in bombings by Israeli and American forces that triggered the conflict. The talks took place separately in Doha under the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan, with both sides agreeing to continue discussions as soon as possible after the funerals, which will begin next weekend and end on July 9 in Mashhad. Positive progress was reported on issues related to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement, mediated by Pakistan, came into effect on June 18 after being signed electronically by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump. It suspended hostilities more than three months after the conflict began, stipulating that Tehran would not develop nuclear weapons.
