School textbooks, transportation and meals for students continue to be funded.

The Croatian government has decided to continue funding mandatory textbooks and transportation costs for secondary school students, as well as educational materials and meal expenses for elementary school students for the 2026/2027 academic year. The funding amounts to 103 million euros. Eligibility includes students from households receiving guaranteed minimum support, those whose parents are unemployed veterans or civilian victims of the Homeland War, and those attending schools participating in the 'Primary School as a Full-Day School' experimental program. The Ministry of Education estimates covering around 1,500 students with 90,000 euros allocated for materials, while the Ministry of Veterans has secured an additional 2,500 euros for approximately 40 students. Transportation subsidies cover 75% of inter-municipal public transport costs for students living more than five kilometers from their school, with full funding for vulnerable groups. Meal subsidies amount to 1.33 to 2 euros per school day.
