This phase involves replacing the upper structure of the road, laying new water pipes, and upgrading traffic signals, including the addition of dedicated bike lanes. The contractor responsible for the project is Euro Grad, with the total value of the work estimated at €417,600, including VAT. Currently, heavy machinery is operating at the intersection with Bičkova Street, which serves as the access point to the primary school. Concerns have been raised regarding whether the construction will be completed by September 1st, when increased traffic due to the start of the school year could complicate matters. Officials from the City Municipality of Kranj stated they aim to conduct most of the work during the summer break when traffic is lighter. They confirmed that, except for the asphalt layer and ground markings, all work at the intersection should be finished by the beginning of the school year, ensuring normal traffic flow for all vehicles. Despite these assurances, disruptions to traffic on Delavska Street are expected to persist through late September. The official deadline for completing all work is set for September 30th. During this time, the road will remain partially closed, with full closure planned for the day of the final asphalt layer placement. According to municipal authorities, the full closure is anticipated to last one day and will likely occur towards the end of the week. The project follows previous renovations on the same street segment last year, which covered the area from the Škofjeloska Street roundabout to the Bičkova Street intersection near the school. This current phase extends the improvements further along the road, addressing infrastructure needs while incorporating modern elements such as improved cycling infrastructure and updated signaling systems. Municipal officials emphasized their commitment to minimizing disruption, particularly around the school area, by scheduling major activities during periods of lower traffic volume. However, the complexity of the work and the need for careful planning mean that some level of inconvenience is unavoidable. Residents and commuters are advised to plan accordingly, considering potential delays and detours during the construction period.
