CroatiaThe Ministry of Interior (MUP) in Croatia has once again spent millions of euros on the same procurement task, following a decision by the State Commission for Public Procurement Control (DKOM) to annul the previous tender. The commission overturned the awarding of the contract to MG Mehanika from Drenje Brdo to the shipyard Iskra in Šibenik, which had filed a complaint alleging that the selected bid did not meet technical specifications. As a result, the MUP was required to pay Iskra 27,000 euros in legal costs. The procurement process was repeated after DKOM’s ruling, highlighting ongoing issues with transparency and compliance in public tenders. The new tender requires vessels capable of speeds of at least 30 knots (55.56 km/h), with specific durability and range requirements, as well as features such as non-sinking capabilities, materials like steel or aluminum, and provisions for carrying up to 10 people along with military equipment.
