MFA: Do not pass through Serbia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora of Kosovo has called on citizens, including those living abroad and planning to travel to Kosovo, to use alternative routes and avoid crossing through Serbia due to increased security measures and recent arrests. The summer season has led to a significant rise in the number of cross-border travelers passing through Serbia, with authorities there recently arresting Osma Selmani under suspicion of war crimes alleged in 1999. Over the past two years, numerous incidents have been reported involving prolonged border controls and questioning of individuals. There have also been several arrests linked to allegations of violating the constitutional order of the Republic of Serbia. In response, lawyer Arianit Koci warned of the need for caution during crossings. The Ministry continues to urge citizens to use alternative routes, monitoring all reported cases through the Kosovo Embassy in Serbia and regularly informing the European Union delegation in Serbia, while also sending verbal notes to diplomatic missions of countries within the Quint group accredited in Serbia.
