BRMotta announces creation of special committee to discuss PEC that reduces penal majority
O presidente da Câmara dos Deputados, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), anunciou a criação de uma comissão especial para discutir a Proposta de Emenda Constitucional (PEC) que reduz a maioridade penal de 18 para 16 anos, permitindo que jovens a partir dessa idade respondam criminalmente por seus atos. A PEC, aprovada pela Comissão de Constituição e Justiça (CCJ) em junho com 44 votos a favor e 18 contra, busca substituir as medidas socioeducativas por penas no sistema prisional. A comissão terá até 10 sessões iniciais para análise e pode se estender por até 40 sessões. Outras propostas ligadas a temas como tributação, trabalho infantil e preservação ambiental também estão sendo discutidas. A PEC é apresentada desde 2015 e tem apoio de parlamentares, embora tenha enfrentado críticas por sua natureza controversa.
