In Ilocos Sur, members of the Solidarity of Peasants Against Exploitation (STOP Exploitation)-Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) Ilocos have called for urgent government assistance following a series of natural disasters and ongoing economic challenges. These farmers and fishermen are seeking comprehensive aid, including compensation and rehabilitation efforts, to address the compounded effects of environmental and economic crises. The STOP Exploitation-KMP group highlighted the need for a coordinated response from local and national authorities to ensure that affected communities receive the necessary resources. They pointed out that the current situation has left many families vulnerable, particularly those who rely heavily on agriculture and fishing for their daily sustenance. Both groups have stressed the importance of timely government action to mitigate further damage. While the DSWD has yet to formally respond to the requests, officials have acknowledged the severity of the issues faced by farmers in different regions.
