Woman killed in house fire

A 60-year-old woman died in a severe residential fire in Fredrikstad, Norway, on Monday evening. The fire broke out around 7:28 PM, with open flames and heavy smoke reported. Emergency services were dispatched, and by 8:20 PM, the spread risk had been reduced. Police confirmed that the deceased was residing at the address and that relatives have been notified and are being supported by health services. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and authorities are still investigating. Firefighters are conducting extinguishing efforts and will later conduct on-site investigations and interview witnesses to determine the origin of the fire. A safety distance of 150 meters was initially established due to smoke but has since been lifted. Firefighters from Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg are involved, and operations are expected to continue into the night.
