Malagueño celebrates its 140th anniversary with a big free party: up to 10,000 people and more than 100 food stalls are expected

Malagueño is set to mark its 140th anniversary with a free public celebration that promises to draw up to 10,000 visitors. Organized by the municipal government, the event will take place on Saturday, August 1st, from 2 pm to 9 pm, offering a mix of music, food, cultural activities, and recreational spaces. The festivities aim to bring together residents and tourists from across the region, highlighting the city’s growth and community spirit. The celebration coincides with the 140th year since the initial urban planning that laid the foundation for the town. While this date is historically recognized on July 28th, the main event has been scheduled for August 1st to accommodate families more easily. Mayor Marcos Fey emphasized the importance of the occasion, stating that it serves both as a tribute to the efforts of past generations and as a showcase of the city's current development. He noted that while the official founding date marks the beginning of institutional development, the area’s history predates this, with earlier names such as Villa Ferreira. The festival will feature a wide range of activities designed for all age groups. A large food fair will include over 100 stalls, showcasing local entrepreneurs and artisans. There will also be dedicated areas for children, cultural exhibitions, and musical performances. One highlight will be the Mobile Museum exhibit, which will display historical items contributed by local families to preserve the town’s heritage. The Volunteer Firefighters will also participate with a demonstration of their work, and there will be a space dedicated to women’s rights through the Punto Mujer initiative. The entertainment lineup includes a variety of artists spanning different genres. Performers such as La Pepa Brizuela, Paquito Ocaño, La Player, the band Dispersarse, Los Altamirano, folkloric academies, and local DJs will keep the crowd entertained throughout the afternoon. The proximity of Malagueño to major tourist centers like Córdoba City and Villa Carlos Paz means that although the town lacks hotels, it continues to attract large numbers of day visitors who come to enjoy the festivities. Mayor Fey highlighted several key projects currently underway in the municipality, reflecting the ongoing development of the city. These include nine simultaneous public works projects focused on infrastructure improvements such as road paving, water and sewage systems, sanitation facilities, electrical distribution, and school upgrades. Among these, the paving of Santa Bárbara neighborhood and the start of paving in Eva Perón neighborhood stand out. Other notable initiatives include the construction of the Valle San Francisco park, new energy distribution lines, expanded primary health care services, and two new social sports complexes. The event also provides an opportunity to reflect on the city’s progress and future plans. As part of the celebrations, officials will share updates on the status of these developments, emphasizing how they contribute to the quality of life for residents.
