This year's Savio camp drew 130 ministers from 60 different parishes.

The 21st annual Savio Camp took place in Zelimlje from August 5th to 9th, bringing together 130 altar servers from 60 different parishes across Slovenia. Organized for young altar servers, the camp focused on friendship, sports, spirituality, altar service, and the search for a path to holiness following the example of Saint Dominic Savio. The event featured a variety of activities designed to deepen participants' faith and strengthen their commitment to serving in church. During the week-long gathering, the young altar servers were accompanied by 25 animators and eight Salesian priests, who helped create a vibrant and connected community. The program included films, catechesis, adoration, prayer, confession, holy communion, altar server workshops, and processions. These activities aimed to show the boys how God loves them and desires them to be happy, encouraging them to look to Him at every step of life, just as Saint Dominic Savio did. Participants engaged in games, competitions, night games, excursions, water games, and orientation exercises, ensuring a well-rounded experience that combined fun with spiritual growth. One of the highlights of the camp was the atmosphere of unity among attendees. Coming from 60 different parishes, the altar servers had the opportunity to see how many fellow believers exist throughout Slovenia. This sense of shared purpose could carry back home, inspiring greater joy and dedication in their ministry at the altar. A particularly meaningful moment during the camp was the procession with banners, a statue, and a relic of Saint Dominic Savio. Throughout the week, the altar servers worked in groups to design banners featuring the crests of Saint Dominic Savio. They then dressed in white and participated in a procession through the village, carrying these symbols of faith. Each participant had the chance to personally ask for a special grace at the feast of Saint Dominic Savio. The camp’s structure allowed for both personal reflection and communal engagement, reinforcing the importance of faith and service. The combination of structured religious activities and recreational elements created an environment conducive to spiritual renewal and fellowship. The presence of animators and Salesian priests ensured that the message of faith was delivered in an accessible and engaging manner, tailored to the interests and experiences of the young participants. As the camp concluded, the organizers expressed satisfaction with the turnout and the positive energy generated by the attendees. The event not only strengthened the bonds among the altar servers but also reminded them of their role within the broader Christian community. With its blend of tradition and modernity, the Savio Camp continues to serve as a vital platform for nurturing the next generation of faithful servants.
