Jaén finalizes planned changes in traffic due to the launch of the tram

The regional government of Andalusia has announced it will invest over 106 million euros in renovation projects across 494 public educational institutions throughout the region. The initiative, managed through the Public Andalusian Agency for Education, involves more than 550 specific works aimed at improving infrastructure that serves approximately 230,000 students. These improvements are part of broader efforts to modernize school facilities and enhance learning environments. The funding for these renovations comes from the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER). The projects span a wide range of activities, including upgrades to classrooms, laboratories, sports facilities, and administrative areas. The work will take place over the course of this year, with each institution receiving tailored interventions based on its specific needs. Among the many locations benefiting from these investments is the city of Jaén, which is currently finalizing adjustments related to the introduction of a tram system. Local authorities have been working to update traffic management systems, particularly around the tram’s route along the Paseo de la Estación. This includes implementing new signage, adjusting traffic signals, and ensuring vehicle movement aligns with the tram's direction. These changes were mandated by technical reports focused on road safety, aiming to create a seamless flow of traffic alongside the tramway. María del Carmen Angulo, the city councilor responsible for urban security and transportation, stated that officials are awaiting input from technicians employed by the companies contracted by the Department of Promotion. These professionals are tasked with carrying out the necessary modifications to make the changes operational. The project reflects a coordinated effort between local and regional governments to improve mobility and infrastructure.
