Clemens called for a papal bull to be signed to overthrow the government, and the pope immediately replied:

Anton Kliman, a member of parliament representing the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), criticized fellow MP Dalibor Paus of the Istrian Democratic Alliance (IDS) for supporting a motion of censure against the government over an environmental disaster in Lika. Kliman described Paus’s support for the initiative as both wrong and unreasonable, stating it does not reflect the unified stance of his party and expressing hope that Paus would reconsider his position. During an interview with reporters in Barban, where he was attending the 51st Trci cycling race as the representative of the President of the Croatian Parliament, Kliman highlighted the positive cooperation between HDZ and IDS in the local government of Barban, where they jointly hold power. He also noted the good relationship between the municipality and the central government, which secured more than two million euros for the local horse riding center. "In the municipality where Mr. Paus used to be mayor, we cooperate, work together, and support each other," Kliman said. However, after the recent extraordinary session of the parliament, he added, "we can no longer say we have mutual respect from the other side." Kliman called Paus's signature on the censure motion "truly unreasonable." He suggested that either Paus did not understand the implications of his actions or that he has a political agenda to see the Croatian government in opposition and new elections soon. He pointed out that the extraordinary parliamentary session was motivated by a serious waste management issue in Gospić, but it ended up serving the opposition's goal of gathering enough votes to initiate a censure motion. According to Kliman, the opposition, particularly the Social Democrats (SDP) and the Možemo! movement, had little concern for resolving the waste problem and ensuring the health of Gospić residents. Kliman argued that there was no reason for IDS to back such a move, suggesting that Paus's actions indicate a consistent policy against the Croatian government, one that aligns closely with the policies of the SDP and Možemo!. He drew attention to the fact that another IDS MP and mayor of Novigrad, Anteo Milos, was not present during the parliamentary debate or the vote on the conclusions, nor did he sign the censure request. This absence, Kliman said, suggests that Paus lacks support within IDS for the political direction he is taking in parliament, though this is something IDS will need to address internally. Expressing regret over Paus's support for the censure initiative, Kliman expressed hope that Paus might change his stance, noting that there is still time for corrections. In response to a journalist's comment that Paus had warned that the situation in Gospić has been ongoing for four years, Kliman stated that the government recognized the problem and would address it based on the conclusions passed by the majority last Friday in parliament. He emphasized awareness of the scale of the problem and the commitment to responsibility, but insisted that this responsibility should involve solving the issue and providing a safer future for residents of Gospić and Lika. He was confident that similar incidents would not occur again in the region. Dalibor Paus, who was also present in Barban, responded directly to Kliman's criticism. He remarked that if Kliman felt compelled to criticize him repeatedly in one statement, it meant he had done a good job. Paus explained that this indicated Kliman had presented his arguments effectively in the debate and was perceived as a relevant figure. Paus added that people do not need explanations for why waste has remained in place for years without action, emphasizing that if there is political accountability for a mayor who spends time in cafes, there must also be political accountability for those responsible for managing the waste system.

Kliman: Paus's wrong and unreasonable decision to support the initiative to overthrow the government

Anton Kliman, saborski zastupnik HDZ-a, kritizira podršku Daliboru Pausu, saborskom zastupniku IDS-a, za inicijativu opoziva vlade zbog ekološke katastrofe u Lici.

Bias read (Conservative): The article frames the support for the motion to revoke the government as politically motivated and aligned with opposition parties like SDP and Možemo!, which are generally considered left-leaning. The tone suggests that supporting such a motion is 'unreasonable' and indicative of a 'policy against

HDZ-man: It is wrong and unreasonable that IDS-man asked for the government's revocation because of Gospić

HDZ-member in Istria: It is wrong and unreasonable to support the initiative to impeach the Government for waste
