KHL Sisak: The team is complex, we are ready for the new season of the Alpine League

KHL Sisak has completed its team roster for the upcoming season of the Alpine League, with all planned players signed and the club fully prepared for competition. The team aims to qualify for the playoffs once again, hoping to match or exceed last year’s achievement of reaching the semifinals. Club president Marko Kajgana expressed confidence in the squad's potential, noting that expectations among fans are high, which is natural following the historic results of the previous season. The team, which finished second in the league last year, will return with a core group of familiar faces, supplemented by additional signings aimed at strengthening specific areas of play. Among the new additions are four Canadian-born players of Croatian descent, Luke Dragušica, Nicholas Domitrović, Lucas Perić, and Anthony Tabak, who have all trained through Canada’s renowned hockey academies. These players bring experience and skill, with three already having senior-level experience in Canadian leagues, while the fourth shows great promise for future development. Kajgana emphasized that these signings add quality and depth to the squad, believing they will contribute significantly throughout the season. “These are quality, well-trained players who have different experiences and can definitely bring a new dimension to our game,” he stated. The club also expects further improvements from its younger players, many of whom are expected to gain more confidence and decision-making ability as the season progresses. The team structure remains largely unchanged from last season, with the core lineup intact and several strategic reinforcements added. Sports director Luka Vukoja and head coach Josh Siembida have maintained similar goals as before, focusing on teamwork, unity, and competitiveness in every game. They believe these qualities will be their greatest asset in achieving success this season. In addition to the Canadian additions, Sisak will welcome Toivo Laaksonen, a Finnish player previously based in Austria. Known for his goal-scoring ability, powerful shot, and physical play, Laaksonen is expected to make a significant impact. Club officials believe his playing style will appeal to local fans and provide a valuable boost to the team’s performance. Looking ahead, Sisak is also investing in its youth development system by appointing Iire Sutinen as the head of its junior academy. Sutinen was selected after careful consideration of multiple candidates, reflecting the club’s commitment to long-term growth. Kajgana noted that Sutinen meets all the criteria set for the role and believes his expertise will quickly benefit the program. The club continues to prioritize developing young Croatian talent, bringing in some of the most promising prospects. These young players, still in early stages of their careers, represent the future of the team and are being nurtured with the hope of contributing meaningfully to the squad’s success in the coming seasons.
