This surpassed the previous record of 57:20 set by Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo earlier this year in Lisbon. The podium was completed by his fellow Ethiopians Tadese Worku and Bereket Nega. In the men’s category, Argentine runner Ignacio Erario finished sixth. Ethiopian Fotyen Tesfay Haiylu won the women’s race, followed by Turkish runners Nevin Can and Selin Can. Approximately 30,000 participants took part in the event under sunny winter conditions.
