Under the new legislation, flight data including names, contact information, credit card numbers, and luggage details will be collected for all flights departing from or landing in Switzerland. Sensitive personal data like religious affiliation will not be shared. The Federal Police’s new specialized unit, the Passenger Information Unit (PIU), will analyze this data against databases like Ripol and the Schengen Information System (SIS). The implementation process is being carried out in stages.
