MacKenzie Scott, the former spouse of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has emerged as one of the most significant philanthropists in recent history, having committed over $26 billion to charitable causes through her organization, Yield Giving. This substantial contribution marks a major shift in the landscape of American philanthropy, particularly due to her focus on supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Following the sale of more than half of her Amazon shares after their divorce, Scott has been recognized for her generosity, appearing on Forbes' list of the world's most generous philanthropists. As of recent reports, Scott has been named the third-most generous philanthropist globally, having already given away 46% of her net worth. Despite such monumental giving, her current net worth remains above $36 billion, largely due to the continued appreciation of Amazon's stock value.
