Initially available to members of the free LEGO Insiders program starting August 1, the set will become widely available for purchase in early April. According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, the project originated from a fan idea that won a competition, adding authenticity and confirming how much the community desired this concept. With 1,478 pieces, the set is positioned as a significant display piece without reaching the massive scale of LEGO’s largest collector editions. Inside the box, fans will find eight minifigures that will delight any true fan of the series: Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, their superior Walter Skinner, the mysterious Mr. X, the notorious Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, the gruff Flukeman, and the classic grey alien. While the reception of the set has largely been positive, some fans expressed disappointment over the absence of beloved side characters like “The Lone Gunmen,” while others felt the design of Flukeman could have been more intricate. Nonetheless, the overall response has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic. Attention to detail is what makes this set stand out. For those who were among the first to purchase the set, LEGO has prepared an exclusive bonus, a smaller promotional set called “Scully’s Laboratory,” further enriching the building experience and showcasing Scully’s workspace. Gillian Anderson, who portrayed Dana Scully, herself expressed her admiration for the set, calling it “a beautiful celebration of the series and the fans who kept the mystery alive.” The X-Files, starring David Duchovney and Gillian Anderson, became one of the most influential science fiction dramas on television during its original run from 1993 to 2002. Its popularity has endured over the years, leading to two new seasons in 2016 and 2018, and currently, a new version of the series is being developed for Hulu by acclaimed director Ryan Coogler. This LEGO set, with its complex model standing over thirty centimeters tall, is clearly designed with adult collectors in mind, priced around $199.99. Interestingly, this set did not originate directly from LEGO’s internal design studios but rather from the LEGO Ideas platform, where fans can submit their own creations.
