Interpol: Over 1,000 people arrested in global police crackdown

Interpol announced that over 1,000 individuals were arrested during a global operation called 'Global Chain' targeting human trafficking networks. The operation, which took place from June 8th to 12th, involved law enforcement agencies from 59 countries across Africa, America, Asia, and Europe. Authorities conducted checks at border crossings, airports, and transportation hubs, focusing on known hotspots identified through investigations. Two coordination centers were based in Skopje, North Macedonia, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Specific cases included Belgian authorities dismantling a network exploiting underage girls via social media, Brazilian police disrupting a transnational network smuggling victims to Cambodia for online fraud, and reports of child labor in Argentina.
