The event, held at the International Conference Centre in Enugu, recognized his efforts in driving development across key economic sectors. Also honored were Jude Asogwa, Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, who won the 2025/2026 Enugu State Best Performing Local Government Chairman Award, and Obiora Obeagu, who placed second in the poll. The awards ceremony was organized by Enugu Media Village, a media platform aimed at promoting developmental governance and disseminating information about government initiatives to the grassroots. The Board of Trustees Chairman of Enugu Media Village, Nnanna Nze, praised Governor Mbah for his remarkable transformation of the state within three years. He highlighted the governor's developmental strides in crucial sectors of the economy, which have garnered praise from both residents and stakeholders. During the event, Enugu State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Osinachi Nnajieze, accepted the award on behalf of Governor Mbah. In his remarks, Nnajieze emphasized the importance of governance as a tool for community transformation and improvement. He reiterated the organization's commitment to supporting developmental governance by ensuring that information reaches the grassroots across all local government areas. Governor Mbah acknowledged the honor, stating that it belonged to his team and the people of Enugu State for entrusting them with their mandate. He expressed his belief that the people had only witnessed the beginning of his administration's impact and reaffirmed his commitment to exceeding expectations in delivering more dividends of democracy to the people. Jude Asogwa, the winner of the 2025/2026 Enugu State Best Performing Local Government Chairman Award, dedicated the recognition to God, Governor Mbah, his family, and the people of Nsukka. He affirmed Nsukka's support for Governor Mbah's re-election, citing several development projects initiated by the administration, including the establishment of 20 Smart Green Schools, 21 Type-2 Primary Healthcare Centres, and infrastructure improvements such as the dualization of the Enugu, Opi, Nsukka Road and the construction of a N1 billion oxygen plant. Meanwhile, in Osun State, the governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Olajide Esan, pledged to return governance to the people if elected on August 15. During a town hall meeting, Esan outlined his plans for enhancing accountability and citizen participation in governance. He criticized the current political landscape in Osun, stating that the state lacked genuine leadership despite having numerous politicians. According to Esan, true leadership should focus on service rather than exploiting the people's challenges. Esan proposed the creation of an Osun Resident Database to provide accurate information about residents, aiding in better planning and delivery of services. He also suggested implementing a financial dashboard to enable residents to monitor government spending and demand explanations for discrepancies. These measures aim to increase transparency and accountability, discouraging politicians from treating governance as a business venture. In Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde declared that he would not become a political godfather dictating the affairs of government under his successor after leaving office in 2027. Speaking during a luncheon for the Muslim community, Makinde emphasized the need for a smooth transition of power and urged voters to evaluate candidates based on their competence, character, and commitment to public service rather than ethnic, religious, or other primordial considerations. Makinde assured the residents that his administration would remain focused on delivering good governance and consolidating its achievements until the end of his tenure.
