HZZ: In Croatia 59,423 unemployed, at least since records were kept

As of late June 2024, Croatia had 59,423 registered unemployed individuals according to data released by the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ), marking a decrease of 15.2% compared to the same period last year and the lowest number since records began. This represents a reduction of 3,1% or 1,875 people compared to May 2024. The HZZ reported 60,609 currently registered unemployed individuals and 15,956 available jobs. In June, 9,632 new individuals were added to the unemployment register, with 7,301 coming from employment relationships, 727 from education, and 1,604 from inactivity. Meanwhile, 11,507 individuals exited the unemployment register, with 7,339 finding employment through formal work relationships. The tourism and retail sectors accounted for the highest number of new hires. Split-Dalmatia County led in both employment and the number of registered unemployed individuals, while Lika-Senj County had the fewest registered unemployed. Approximately 26.9% of the unemployed received financial assistance in June, down 2.6% from the previous year.
