Hollywood Video founder's unfinished Oregon mansion listed for $4.7m

An unfinished mansion in West Linn, Oregon, originally owned by Hollywood Video founder Mark Wattles, is now listed for $4.7 million. The 51,908-square-foot structure, designed to rival the White House in size, was begun in 1997 but never completed. It sits on a 32-acre riverfront property and remains largely un-finished, lacking windows and finished floors. The project faced a legal challenge in 1997 over its placement on agricultural land, which Wattles ultimately won. After moving to Las Vegas, Wattles sold the property in 2018 to Richard L Stanley, who plans to convert it into a Tuscan villa-style vineyard with a wine-tasting room. Stanley has already invested $1.5 million in improvements such as a new roof and blueberry planting.
