Grosuplje has acquired a state-of-the-art drone for Civil Protection and Firefighters.

The town of Grosuplje has acquired a modern drone for its Civil Protection and firefighters as part of an ongoing European project aimed at enhancing emergency response capabilities. The new drone, model DJI Matrice 4TD, will be used exclusively for tasks related to protection and rescue operations. This acquisition marks a significant step forward in strengthening the abilities of Grosuplje's Civil Protection and Firefighters' Association during extraordinary situations. The drone was officially presented today at the Fire Station in Grosuplje. The event was attended by several local officials including Mayor Dr. Peter Verlič, Deputy Mayor Janez Pintar, Anita Simon from the Civil Protection department, Captain Tomaž Rigle of Civil Protection, President of the Firefighters' Association Aleš Kastelic, and other representatives from the association. The presentation highlighted the practical applications of the drone in various emergency scenarios such as floods, earthquakes, fires, traffic accidents on roads and railways, and environmental incidents. It will also aid in searching for missing persons, quickly assessing the scale of accidents, and determining the extent of damage, which will allow intervention services to act more efficiently and safely. Mayor Dr. Peter Verlič emphasized that ensuring the safety of citizens is one of the municipality’s top priorities. He noted that modern technology provides crucial support for the work of emergency services, enabling faster and more effective responses and better oversight of conditions on the ground. He believes this new acquisition will significantly ease the workload of Civil Protection and firefighters while improving their ability to respond effectively to exceptional events. The acquisition represents one of the most advanced unmanned systems available on the market, designed to operate under the most demanding conditions. The drone was purchased within the framework of the CBRNe4Rail program under the Interreg initiative, in which the Municipality of Grosuplje participates as a project partner. The project focuses on strengthening the security of critical railway infrastructure in Europe and improving preparedness for exceptional circumstances through collaboration with railway companies, law enforcement agencies, and local communities. With this new equipment, Grosuplje continues its investment in modern technology, providing residents with a higher level of safety amid increasingly frequent natural and technological disasters. The integration of advanced drones into emergency response strategies reflects a broader trend towards leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance public safety and disaster management capabilities.
