Government postpones payment of monthly taxes due on Monday for communes affected by the frontal system

The government has postponed the payment deadline for monthly taxes that were due this Monday for municipalities affected by the frontal weather system. The new deadline is set for October 30th. Details of which communities will benefit will be announced by the Internal Revenue Service through its official channels. The decision was made following a recent session of the national technical table. It aims to ease the financial burden on entrepreneurs, individuals, and small businesses whose economic activities have been disrupted by heavy rainfall. According to the statement from the minister, the measure was jointly decided upon by the Internal Revenue Service (SII) and the Treasury General of the Republic (TGR). Minister Claudio Alvarado explained that the extension is intended to support those impacted by the weather emergency. “With the purpose of supporting entrepreneurs, individuals, and small businesses operating in the areas most affected by this weather front, the SII, together with the TGR, have decided that the declaration and payment of monthly taxes due tomorrow can be submitted until October 30th without penalties or interest,” he stated. Alvarado emphasized that the delay reflects the impact of the emergency on local economies. “We fully understand the effect that this weather condition has on the economic activity of the affected areas, and for this reason, we have decided to establish this tax payment extension,” he added. He noted that the benefit applies specifically to municipalities located in the most affected zones. The exact list of these locations will be communicated by the Internal Revenue Service via its official platforms.
