In the village of Destrnik, officials have signed a contract for the reconstruction of a section of the local road Placar, Mestni Vrh. The agreement was reached between the mayor, Vlasta Tetičkovič Toplak, and the construction company Gradbeništvo Weindorfer d.o.o. This marks a significant step towards modernizing the town’s transportation infrastructure. The project focuses on repairing a nearly one-kilometre stretch of the road, which has been deemed in need of urgent attention. According to the mayor, this work will provide residents with safer and more reliable road connections. The reconstruction of the lower part of the road follows the recent renewal of the upper section. Work is set to begin in early August and is expected to conclude by the start of September. The total investment amounts to over 145,000 euros. In addition to road surface improvements, the municipality will also upgrade public lighting along the route. Old streetlights will be replaced with solar-powered lamps mounted on metal candelabras, enhancing both traffic safety and energy efficiency. This initiative continues the municipality's efforts to systematically update its public infrastructure. The mayor emphasized that priority is given to the most deteriorated sections of roads while simultaneously preparing new projects. Last month, the municipality submitted applications for funding through a public call for support to renovate the road in Iršovci. The mayor expressed her commitment to ensuring that public infrastructure in the community remains well-maintained. “We aim to ensure that our public infrastructure is continuously updated, aligning with plans and actual needs of the residents,” she stated. The ongoing renovations reflect a long-term strategy aimed at improving quality of life and promoting sustainable development within the municipality. During the construction period, temporary traffic restrictions will be enforced. Appropriate traffic signals will be installed, and partial or complete closures of certain road segments are anticipated. To accommodate these changes, alternative routes will be made available. The mayor urged drivers to exercise patience and understanding during this time, noting that while there may be some inconvenience, the long-term benefits will be substantial. The municipality has also reminded citizens that the road will remain accessible throughout the project, with necessary adjustments to ensure safe passage. These measures are designed to minimize disruption while maintaining essential services. The reconstruction is expected to significantly enhance road safety and improve overall living conditions for the residents of Destrnik.
