Ford Motor has announced a recall of over 177,000 vehicles due to three distinct defects identified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recall includes 67,842 Mustang models (2024–26) and Mustang GTD models (2025–26) affected by a windshield wiper and washing system malfunction, which may only operate at high speed and could fail entirely in cold conditions. Additionally, 42,784 Mustang Mach E models (2021–23) are being recalled due to a potential pinion shaft fracture risk, which could lead to loss of drive power or unintended movement of parked vehicles. Lastly, 66,383 Lincoln Nautilus Hybrid and Explorer Hybrid models (2024–27 and 2025–27 respectively) are being recalled because of a software issue preventing the pedestrian warning sound from functioning properly. Affected vehicle owners will receive letters this month notifying them of the recall and advising them to contact dealers for free repairs. This follows another recent recall involving over 741,000 Ford vehicles related to a faulty park system.
