Ferran Torres will play for Paris Saint-Germain after leaving Barcelona, marking the fifth most expensive sale in the club’s history. The 26-year-old forward, who became a hero during Spain’s World Cup victory over Argentina in July 2026, has signed a five-year contract with PSG. The deal is valued at approximately 58 million dollars, making it one of the largest transfers in Barcelona's history. Torres, born in Valencia, began his football journey at Mestalla, the youth academy of his hometown club. He rose through the ranks in the Second B division before being called up to Spain’s junior national teams. At 17, he made his professional debut with Valencia in 2017. After three years, he joined Manchester City, where he was part of Pep Guardiola’s project. However, following a second season with limited impact, Barcelona signed him in 2021 to fill the void left by Lionel Messi’s departure. During his time at Barcelona, Torres gradually regained his form and contributed to the team’s success, helping them win seven titles, including three La Liga championships, three domestic cups, and the Copa del Rey. In his final season, he scored 16 goals, his best individual tally. This change in mindset allowed him to regain confidence and contribute significantly to Barcelona’s achievements in the 2025–2026 season. Before joining Barcelona, Torres had a brief stint with Manchester City, where he played under Pep Guardiola. His move to the Catalan giants came after a difficult spell at City, where he failed to establish himself consistently. Despite this, his performances for Barcelona were crucial in their title-winning campaign. His goal in the World Cup final against Argentina, which secured Spain its second-ever World Cup title, further solidified his status as a key player.
