Children's Book Fair 2026: over 70 booths, promotions and shows in winter break

The 34th edition of the Feria del Libro Infantil began its run on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the Buenos Aires Convention Center, marking a new chapter for the annual children’s book fair. The event, which has become a staple of summer entertainment in Argentina, welcomed over 70 exhibitors offering books, educational materials, and interactive activities. A key initiative introduced this year is the "chequelibro," a voucher worth $10,000 that students receiving the fair entry with their school delegation can redeem for a book at participating stalls. This program builds on the success of similar initiatives in past editions, aiming to encourage reading among children while supporting local publishers and authors. The fair’s new location spans 3,000 square meters, accommodating more than 70 booths and two dedicated performance spaces where live readings and creative workshops take place throughout the duration of the event. The fair will also host the Premios Pregonero on July 31, an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding contributions to the literary industry. These awards celebrate excellence in publishing, illustration, and storytelling, highlighting the diverse talent within Argentina’s cultural sector. In addition to these main attractions, the fair offers a range of activities designed to engage children and families, including craft stations, music performances, and themed exhibits that bring stories to life through interactive displays. Isol, whose work has been featured in collaborations with notable writers such as Paul Auster and Federico García Lorca, brings a wealth of artistic and literary expertise to the event. Her book Petit, el monstruo inspired the animated series Petit, produced by Paka Paka, Señal Colombia, and TV, further cementing her influence in both print and digital media. Beyond her individual achievements, Isol has contributed illustrations to the works of other celebrated authors, demonstrating her versatility and commitment to enriching children’s literature. The fair’s decision to split into age-specific categories reflects a growing awareness of the need for targeted content that aligns with developmental stages.
