Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Orlando Resort have announced the launch of a new immersive attraction titled Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness as part of their Halloween Horror Nights event. This attraction pays tribute to the legendary rock musician’s career, offering visitors a dark and musical journey through key moments in his life and work. The experience will debut on August 28 at Universal Orlando Resort and September 3 at Universal Studios Hollywood. Designed as a haunted house, the attraction will feature interactive elements and soundscapes inspired by Ozzy Osbourne's music. Visitors can expect to hear songs from some of his most iconic albums, including The Blizzard of Ozz (1980), Diary of a Madman (1981), Bark at the Moon (1983), No More Tears (1991), Scream (2010), and Ordinary Man (2020). These tracks will serve as the soundtrack to the eerie narrative unfolding throughout the attraction. Sharon and Jack Osbourne, the late singer’s wife and son, expressed their approval of the project in a statement shared with La Tercera. They praised the effort made by Halloween Horror Nights to honor Ozzy’s legacy, noting how the attraction brings to life the spirit of his creativity and influence. They emphasized that fans would recognize many moments inspired by his music and imagination, creating an entertaining experience that mirrors the joy Ozzy himself would have felt seeing it come to life. At Universal Studios Hollywood, the attraction transports guests to Birmingham, England, the birthplace of John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne. The journey begins with his most famous song, Crazy Train, and takes visitors through different stages of his life, from his early years to the infamous Osbourne Asylum, which was inspired by his album Diary of a Madman. Throughout the experience, visitors will encounter various facets of Ozzy’s personality, such as the “Madman Ozzy,” the “Werewolf Ozzy,” and ultimately the “Prince of Darkness,” a nickname he earned during the 1970s. John Murdy, the executive producer of Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, highlighted the significance of Ozzy’s impact on the heavy metal genre and broader culture. He noted that Ozzy helped define the genre and created a lasting influence on music, art, and horror. The attraction aims to celebrate his solo career, drawing inspiration from his thirteen studio albums and the surreal worlds they inspired. In Universal Orlando, the experience begins with visitors entering ancient ruins and dungeons before boarding the “Crazy Train.” The journey leads them into a fantastical world inspired by the cover art of Ozzy’s later albums, including Diary of a Madman, Bark at the Moon, The Ultimate Sin, and Black Rain. The design reflects the sound and visual style that defined the latter part of his career. Mike Aiello, senior creative director of entertainment development at Universal Orlando Resort, stated that the collaboration with the Osbourne family was a privilege. He emphasized the goal of creating an authentic and immersive experience that captures the essence of Ozzy’s creativity and personality. Fans will discover hidden Easter eggs and explore dark, twisted scenes inspired by his storied career.
