Președintele Franței, Emmanuel Macron, a efectuat o vizită oficială în Siria, fiind primul lider vest-european care face astfel de vizită după căderea regimului lui Bashar al-Assad. Vizita, care a avut loc la Damasc, a fost organizată în contextul eforturilor noilor autorități siriane de a restaura relațiile internaționale și de a atrage investiții pentru reconstrucția țării afectate de conflicte lungi. Macron a fost întâmpinat de ministrul sirian de Externe, Asaad al-Shaibani, iar discuțiile au abordat suportul pentru o Sirie democratică, protejarea minorităților și cooperarea împotriva terorismului. Însoțit de reprezentanți ai companiilor franceze, inclusiv CMA CGM și TotalEnergies, vizita s-a desfășurat într-un context regional tensionat, cu incursiuni israelene în Siria și influența Turciei asupra noilor guverne. După Siria, Macron urmează să participe la Summitul NATO în Turcia.
