Elohor Aiboni Takes the Helm as Executive Vice President and Country Chair, Nigeria

Elohor Aiboni began her new role as Executive Vice President and Country Chair for Shell in Nigeria last week, marking a pivotal moment in the company's ongoing engagement with the nation. With over two decades of experience within Shell, Aiboni brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the position, which includes overseeing a range of critical operations across the country. Her appointment comes after she previously held the title of Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), where she was recognized as the first woman to hold such a role in the region. Aiboni’s tenure at Shell has been characterized by a focus on innovation and sustainable practices. Since joining the company in 2002, she has worked across multiple sectors, including deepwater oil and gas exploration and production. Her recent promotion underscores Shell’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, as well as its recognition of local talent. The responsibilities of Aiboni's new position encompass a broad spectrum of activities essential to Shell’s operations in Nigeria. These include managing deepwater oil and gas production via SNEPCo, facilitating industrial gas distribution through Shell Nigeria Gas (SNG), delivering distributed power solutions through Daystar Power, and promoting renewable energy access through All On. Each of these initiatives plays a crucial role in addressing energy challenges and contributing to Nigeria's economic development. In her initial communication to employees, Aiboni expressed gratitude for the accomplishments achieved thus far and emphasized her determination to continue building upon that foundation. Shell’s deepwater operations in Nigeria are currently experiencing a period of expansion and investment. Recent developments include the Final Investment Decision (FID) on the Bonga North project and the HI gas project, both of which aim to enhance the country's energy infrastructure. The Bonga North development is expected to contribute significantly to Nigeria's energy output, while the HI gas project will provide substantial volumes of gas to meet domestic demand. Both projects are progressing steadily towards their respective milestones, with first oil and first gas anticipated before the end of the decade. Beyond these major projects, Shell continues to make strides in other areas, such as reducing reliance on heavy fuels through the provision of clean-burning natural gas. Shell Nigeria Gas supplies approximately 20 billion cubic feet of gas annually to over 150 industrial clients, thereby helping to reduce emissions and promote environmental sustainability. Additionally, Daystar Power is playing a vital role in supporting the transition to cleaner energy sources by offering affordable and reliable hybrid energy solutions to commercial and industrial users across West Africa.
