Candela Arizaga's lawyer denounced irregularities in the raid and said he will ask for the annulment

The lawyer for Candela Arizaga has alleged procedural irregularities during a raid conducted at the residence of her former partner, ex-deputy Facundo Moyano, and announced plans to request the nullification of the operation. According to reports, the legal representative, Diego Storto, claimed that someone entered the property while the judicial authorities were carrying out the search, which he believes compromises the integrity of the evidence. The incident took place in the Belgrano district of Buenos Aires. Storto stated that prior to the raid, an individual was observed entering the apartment, raising concerns over the legality of the procedure. He emphasized that this unauthorized access undermines the chain of custody and could render the results of the operation inadmissible in court. The lawyer expressed his intention to pursue legal action against the police force responsible for conducting the raid, arguing that their actions have compromised the investigation. The raid was initially requested by Assistant Prosecutor Julian Pistone from the Northern Unit of Immediate Action (UFLA) of the City’s Public Ministry. The request was submitted to Judge Julia Correa, who authorized the operation. Police personnel completed the search later in the day, and according to officials, no illicit substances were seized. However, they did recover a USB drive, an Apple Watch, and some medications. Storto questioned the thoroughness of the operation, particularly noting Moyano's refusal to undergo blood and urine tests despite suspicions of drug use. He suggested that Moyano might have known the outcome of the search would be negative and thus avoided testing, potentially misleading investigators. The lawyer further criticized the lack of transparency surrounding Moyano’s actions and the circumstances leading to his detention. Candela Arizaga and Moyano were found around 5 a.m. near the intersection of Virrey Vértiz and Sucre after leaving Moyano’s apartment located at Avenida del Libertador 5400. Security personnel at the building reported that a man and a woman had exited following an incident and walked along the avenue before being intercepted by police officers. Both individuals were identified as Moyano and Arizaga, who showed signs of substance use. Arizaga claimed she had been assaulted by Moyano, prompting the police to call for medical assistance. Emergency services transported her to the Pirovano Hospital, where she gave a statement to the city police’s Family Protection Division. She denied having been physically harmed or confined by Moyano, attributing the situation to the effects of drug use. She remained at the hospital until late in the evening and was eventually released. Storto described Arizaga’s condition upon release, stating that she exhibited high levels of stress and shock but suffered no physical injuries that would prevent her from continuing her rest at home or with a friend. When asked whether Moyano had locked Arizaga inside, the lawyer responded that such claims were matters of interpretation. He noted that Moyano was detained based on the information provided by the police, and the prosecutor decided his arrest accordingly.
